SKY BET: Title sponsor covers away fan ticket costs

Football League title sponsor Sky Bet cover away ticket costs

Sky Bet, the title sponsor of The Football League, is covering the cost of every Carlisle United away ticket sold for today’s Yeovil Town fixture.

Back in August 2015, the online bookmaker paid for the match tickets and travel for over 100 Carlisle fans making the longest journey in the Football League to Plymouth.

In December, the town was devastated by a series of catastrophic floods that meant Brunton Park, the club’s home, was left under 8ft of water.

Today, the fans of England’s most Northerly club embarked on a 660-mile round trip to the South Coast in their Sky Bet League 2 fixture.

Head of Sponsorship, Edwin Martin said: “Having worked closely with the club this season, we were especially saddened to see how badly they were affected by the floods in December. We met with them soon afterwards and saw first hand how the stadium and the town have been affected.

“We wanted to recognise the loyalty that the fans show to their team in the face of such adversity and so have decided to help with the financial cost of the Yeovil Town game, by covering the cost of match tickets for all travelling fans.”

Carlisle United's Finance Director, Suzanne Kidd said: “This is another wonderful gesture from the Football League’s title sponsor. They have worked closely with us on a number of projects this season and this is another example of how they are genuinely thinking about fans and the role they play in the match day experience.

“I’m sure this will be extremely well received by supporters who have had to cover over 15,000 miles to follow their team this season. We’d like to thank everyone at Sky Bet for making this happen.”
