Update from the Tuesday afternoon reserve game
United had to come from two behind to earn a draw in their bounce game at Fleetwood on Tuesday afternoon as they traded blows in an encounter which could have gone either way.
Early chances were missed by both sides but the hosts went ahead when Haughton was upended just inside the box. The experienced Bobby Grant stepped forward to drill a well struck spot kick into the roof of the net.
United were back on terms when Joe Thompson dipped and weaved his way through challenges on the left flank. A precise low cross invited Rigg to step forward and he made no mistake with a firm side-footed finish from close range.
Archibald-Henville and Thompson went close for the visitors as dangerous crosses angled into the area but a disastrous 60 seconds ahead of the break left Fleetwood two goals to the good as the half time whistle blew.
Their second of the day came when Haughton found space with the ball at his feet. He picked his spot and rattled a fierce shot past Hanford.
A defensive error then allowed Grant to rob possession and he drew the keeper off his line before he expertly clipped the ball into the net.
Carlisle went into the second half in determined mood and Derek Asamaoh brought his side right back into it when he hustled and harried to win the ball back half way inside the opposition half. He angled his run and kept his cool to score a well taken goal.
The game tightened up but the lively Joe Thompson played a big part in United's late equaliser when he intercepted a loose pass on the right flank. He drove forward and his cut back allowed Asamoah to rifle the ball home.
