Winger Jamie Devitt joins on two-year deal
Carlisle United have today signed winger Jamie Devitt on a two-year deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until at least the summer of 2018.Dublin-born Devitt, 25, started his career at newly promoted Premier League side Hull City and was voted their Young Player of the Year for the 2007/08 season.
In 2011 Devitt was capped by the Republic of Ireland U21 side.
He went on to have seven spells on loan before signing for Chesterfield in the summer of 2013. His time with the Spireites resulted in eight appearances before he joined Morecambe, initially on loan.
Jim Bentley made the move permanent in the summer of 2014 and Devitt has since made 98 appearances for the Shrimps, scoring 12 goals.
Head of Recruitment Lee Dykes said: "Jamie is a very talented individual who joins us on the back of a successful season on a personal level.
"Jamie was arguably one of the most effective players we faced last year, playing a big part in three of the four goals we conceded against Morecambe.
"He's a forward thinking player who can create and score goals which is an area we have looked to strengthen as a priority in this transfer window.
"Jamie can play a number of positions across the top end of the pitch. We believe he can play a big part in driving the philosophy of the manager forward and helping us to build on the success we achieved last season."
This deal remains subject to the clearance of all paperwork.
