United owner Tom Piatak spoke this afternoon on the appointment of Mike Williamson as the new Head Coach at Brunton Park.
“I am thrilled with the appointment of Mike Williamson as our new Head Coach,” he said.
“As Chairman, I can confidently say that Mike was the number one target on our list, and we are absolutely thrilled to have secured his services. His energy, leadership, and footballing philosophy are exactly what we’ve been looking for to take this club to the next level.
“Mike’s experience as a player across all levels of English football, combined with his recent coaching success, made this decision a simple one for the ownership group. His deep knowledge of the game, from grassroots to the professional level, has given him a unique perspective that we believe will greatly benefit our squad and the whole club.
“His style of play is exciting, attacking, and centred around high press and possession-based football. We had the opportunity to see this first-hand when we played MK Dons earlier in the season, and it left a lasting impression. It’s the kind of football that will inspire our players and captivate our supporters.
“Mike is also a fantastic person with a clear vision for the future, and what stood out most was how closely his vision aligns with our own. The ownership group as a team could clearly see that his ambitions and match the long-term goals we have set for Carlisle United.
