Carlisle United Community Sports Trust are delighted to announce that Thomas Graham & Sons LTD have agreed to become the CUFC Veterans' Programme official sponsor.
CUFC CST are incredibly pleased that Thomas Graham have pledged their support to the project and the club’s official charity, which will help support our community.
The veterans sessions offer a wide range of services and resources to help participants transition to civilian life while addressing any challenges they may face.
Monthly breakfast meetings, mental health support, physical activity sessions and regular excursions are all ways that CUFC CST aid veterans across North Cumbria.
Thomas Graham are Cumbria’s largest steel stockholders and industrial supplies merchants with a presence in Carlisle since 1892.
They are a family-run business that works hard to ensure all staff feel part of the team, instilling many of the values and standards upheld by the Armed Forces.
You can visit their stores in Carlisle, Egremont, Kendal, Morecambe or Barrow to fulfil all your industrial needs.
Carlisle United Community Sports Trust CEO, James Tose said: “It is brilliant that Thomas Graham are helping fund our Veterans Programme.
“The work we do with our service veterans is invaluable, so the support we have received from Roger [Smith] and his team at Thomas Graham has been brilliant.
“To have local businesses supporting the people in their community is fantastic and very much appreciated.”
Thomas Graham Managing Director, Roger Smith said: “We’re a local family business and we think it’s really important to give back to our community.
“We all know Carlisle United is the football team and recognise the effort the Piatak’s are putting in and we wanted to do our small bit to support the Community Sports Trust side of the business.
“They do a fantastic job, and we wanted to be part of it.”
Thomas Graham Health and Safety Manager, Paul Chandler added: “I have been a Carlisle United fan as long as I can remember and also served in the army for 24 years.
“When it’s your time to leave it can be very daunting as you are losing your sense of community, belonging, and responsibility and thinking what am I going to do now? I was lucky enough to find employment with Thomas Graham shortly after leaving the services.
“Thomas Graham is a member of the Armed Forces Covenant where we offer different levels of assistance to serving members, families, and veterans. No matter your background, football brings everyone together so you get the camaraderie, but to have a dedicated group that offers many services ranging from breakfast club to mental health support is fantastic and can be invaluable to many.”
