RAF BOULMER FUNDRAISER

Personnel from RAF Boulmer completed a sponsored run at Brunton Park to raise money for Carlisle United Community Sports Trust's Veterans projects.

The servicemen ran a combined 80 laps around the ground to honour the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings and aim to reach £1,000 in donations.

They were cheered on by members of the Community Sports Trust's Vets group, who will benefit from any funds raised and were involved in a bucket collection alongside the RAF Boulmer team before the Blues took on Tranmere Rovers.

Community Sports Trust CEO, James Tose said: "The fundraiser was a great success bringing all aspects of the forces community together.

"A huge thank you has to go out to the RAF servicemen who gave up their time to come and complete the 80-lap challenge as well as some of our CST Vets who helped with the bucket collection in the Northern Competitions Fan Zone.

"A great couple of days raising money for a great project."

RAF Boulmer's Craig Gibson added: "With the heat, it was a bit of a challenge, but it was nice, the team have all trained for it.

"It is always good to give back to the community, all for a good cause.

"We all get together no matter if your Army, Navy or Airforce, we're all one team so it's giving something back to them (Vets)."
