We spoke to manager Paul Simpson ahead of the trip to MK Dons.
MK Dons have lost their first three matches this season, so there’s perhaps a bit of added pressure on them. We asked Paul if that changes his approach slightly: "No, it doesn't change what we do and I'm quite sure it won't change their tactics either. They've got a really set way of playing.
“Mike Williamson has gone in and done a really good job, he did a fantastic job last season getting them into the play-offs and unfortunately the play-off games didn't go how they wanted. But they're a very, very possession-based side. I think they had close to 70% possession against Colchester, but lost the game.
“So we know that we're going to have to be patient. We're going to have to accept that they may have spells on the ball. I don't expect it to change.
“It's a wonderful stadium to go to. I've only been there when scouting, and I did some work for the radio there as well once, but I'm looking forward to going. I'm looking forward to us carrying on where we left off in our last league fixture and trying to go and back up what was a good result last weekend.”
MK Dons are one of the sides fancied to be up the top end of the table this season, and despite their poor start, Paul maintained that that’s still the case: "I still think they'll be one of the fancied teams. They've made some really good additions to their group. Some good footballers, players who we've talked about in the last couple of years, trying to bring in here, but were always away from us. We couldn't do them.
“They've made good signings. I think they will still be up there.”
“They've had a little bit of a slow start, but there's two games gone, two league games gone anyway. There's so many more to play for and I'm sure they'll come good.”
We sold out our original allocation of 467 tickets for the game, so we expect over 500 Blues inside Stadium MK, Paul spoke about that excellent support: “That'll be brilliant and we're going to need them because there won't be many in the stadium.
“So we'll need them to come and make the noise, but we've got to make sure that we put on a performance that keeps them shouting, keeps them happy and makes them want to come again next time.”
