Ahead of Saturday’s clash against Colchester United, we spoke to forward Matthew Dennis.
Speaking to CUTV, he said: ”It's been good. I've met some of the boys, met a few of the staff as well and it's been good here. It's been decent.”
When asked about Blues’ interest, he responded: “It was quite quick to be honest. As soon as I left MK [Dons], there was interest there straight away.
“Some of the staff here were previously at my old club, so that was easy. So it wasn't too bad.
“It kind of gave me confidence as well. Like you say, it's much easier to come in, settle in when you've got people around you that you already know.”
Dennis became the first addition of the Mark Hughes era, talking on the gaffer, Matty said: “It's been good. He likes hard work, so I'm going to obviously give him my all in training every day. I'm trying to be a good team player and obviously get the boys where they need to be down the line.
“Try to help the team stay up and just give my all for the club. The boys don't deserve to be in this position. There's a lot of talent, a lot of good players here, so we'll see where it goes. I have a lot of confidence in the boys as well.
The attacker made his debut for the Cumbrians on Tuesday night at Newport County, speaking on that contest, he said: “I was excited, it was good. I haven't really touched the pitch in a long while, so I was buzzing to get back out.
“We just didn't get the win. Hopefully, this coming Saturday, we get that under our belts.
“Built a bit of chemistry with the boys. We stayed at the hotel for two nights, so it kind of helped me build a bond, build a connection with some of the lads.
“Obviously, some of the boys that were at MK Dons previously, Wearney (Stephen Wearne), Ethan [Robson], that made it easier as well.”
United face an in-form Colchester United side this weekend, who are unbeaten in five league outings.
“I'm buzzing again. It’ll be a physical game.
“Just hopefully we get the win. Hopefully the boys can take three points tomorrow.
“They've got a few good players there, some of them that I know. It will be a challenge, but I feel like the boys can pull through.”
Mark Hughes’ side have back-to-back home fixtures coming up against Colchester and Gillingham. Talking on the importance of games at Brunton Park, Matty stated: “It's very important.
“Like I said previously as well, I do believe in the boys. I've been here for a few days, a week now, and as you can see, the boys have loads of talent here.
“I do believe that the boys can pick up that form and hopefully we can start that battle tomorrow against Colchester.”
