AN INJURY UPDATE FROM PAUL SIMPSON

PAUL SIMPSON

We spoke to manager Paul Simpson on Friday to get an injury update ahead of Saturday's game against Tranmere.

“We're now getting into a position with Cameron Harper back available, Dylan McGeoch back available, with Harrison and Jordan coming in, that we've got a few extra bodies," he said.

"Hopefully over the coming weeks we'll start to get more of the senior players back available. We'll start discussing whether some of the younger players can go out on loan once we get through the weekend, and we may need a couple of them against Forest on Tuesday.

"I want to go out and put a strong team out against Forest because I want to start getting into the habit of winning games of football, and I think with a senior side it gives us a better chance of doing that.”

"Terrell came back into training this week as well. We were hoping that he might have had a chance for last weekend, but it was too early, and certainly too early to take a risk. He's trained fully this week, we've had a few other little bumps and bruises, but nothing serious, and hopefully we'll have everybody available for Tranmere.”

On Georgie Kelly’s injury, he said: “It's a bad one. We felt it was going to be bad at the time, if I'm honest. So we had it scanned on Monday, and I think it's a 3C tear of his muscle in the calf, so we're looking at 12 weeks.

"He's got a course of three PRP injections to try and speed up the healing process, so he's had the first, they come over a two-week period.

"It's a horrible thing for Georgie, he's as frustrated as any of us, Georgie is a real meticulous, calm fella, and I think it was the first sign of how frustrated he is when he came off at MK Dons, when he nearly put his fist through the seats in the dugout.

"He's as frustrated as we are, and now the challenge for us is to make sure we look after him and get him back as soon as we can.”
