Dan Butterworth joined us ahead of Friday’s trip to Peterborough.
Assessing our most recent fixture against Stevenage, which saw the forward score a brace, he said: “I thought we actually played quite well in spells, we had a lot of good possession.
“I thought the first goal was a really good team goal, Harrison’s pass into Jack, and he played a nice ball into me and I was there to tap it in.
“We’ve been working on playing forward a lot more and getting into those areas for someone to slip it in.
“He [Jack Ellis] makes good movements coming in and back out and Harrison plays a great pass to him, a perfect weighted pass.”
Speaking on his second goal, Dan added: “My touch was a bit heavy at first I thought, nobody really closed me down so I just thought I’d hit it and then scored.”
Butterworth was replaced by Jack Diamond on 79 minutes and following his exit from the field of play, the Blues surrendered a two-goal lead.
Analysing the closing stages, Dan said: “It’s obviously disappointing, but it probably sums our season up at the minute.
“Not seeing those games out is disappointing.”
United travel to the Weston Homes Stadium on Good Friday, where they’ll be aiming to put last weekend’s disheartening result behind them.
“I’m in a bit of form, so hopefully I’ll get another goal on Friday if I’m playing.
“We trained today, we’ve been working on what we’re doing against Peterborough, so yeah, we’ll see how we do.
“It’ll probably be a physical game, they’ve got a few fast players, they’ll be looking to use that against us, so it’s just how we can cope with it.”
The attacker’s double on home soil against Stevenage sees his tally rise to three goals in as many games.
“It gives me a lot of confidence, it's the best form I’ve been in playing in the league, so we’ll see if I can add to it,” said Dan.
Finally, speaking on United’s supporters, Butterworth said: “They’ve been good. It’s always a bit of a trek for the Carlisle fans, but they follow in good numbers.”
