MANAGER: It will be a strong side

United travel to Penrith in the quarter finals of the Cumberland Cup on Tuesday evening and manager Paul Simpson confirmed a strong squad will be playing in the game.

“There were 16 outfield players who weren’t involved in the starting 11 on Saturday so there will be a strong side going to Penrith on Tuesday,” he confirmed. “It’s a case of getting match minutes, going to try and win a game of football and keeping everybody up to speed while we see who can put themselves into the frame for being involved in the next game.

“We've actually got too many to make sure they all get a game so there will be some who won't be involved. The likes of Jack Armer and Sean Maguire don’t need a game.

“We've got Fin who needs to get minutes after being out for so long and we’ve got Terry Ablade who will be involved. Max Kilsby, Sean Grehan, Corey Whelan and possibly Ben Barclay will also be involved.

“With Jack Diamond, the idea was to get him some minutes but maybe with him having 45 minutes on Saturday we might just look at keeping him involved in training.”

“We’re waiting for international clearance for Anton [Dudik],” he continued. “He's been training with us so he's fit enough to play. He's a player for the development situation, he's not a player to chuck in now.

“But I have to say I've been really impressed with his level of ability and his football intelligence, because he's a guy who doesn't speak fluent English but he picks things up really quickly.

“He's got so much hunger in his belly to go and want to do well because of what he's been through. So I really hope that that one works, but he's not for the now, he's maybe for the future.

“If we get the clearance through before Tuesday, then hopefully he’ll be involved. But he's a player who we're looking at, so we'll get minutes in him in youth games then and we'll be able to see what he's about and see whether he deserves another opportunity next season."
