Striker Luke Armstrong has made two appearances since joining the Blues and we caught up with him this week to get his thoughts on his first few weeks at Brunton Park.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be here," he told us. "It was great to get the move sorted and get here early so I could meet all the lads. Despite the results in my first two games, I’ve really enjoyed being back out on the pitch and I’m really hopeful for the next few months.
“Arriving early definitely helped me settle in. Sometimes it’s tough getting thrown straight in there and not quite knowing what to expect from the lads you’re playing with.
"I was able to build up a good understanding for the few weeks I was training beforehand. The lads have been really welcoming and I’ve really enjoyed my time here so far.
“You can train as much as you want but you really see what it’s like on a match day. I feel like we’re building up a good understanding and getting stronger. It doesn’t feel like we’re far away from getting results and that’s what we’re all aiming for.
“I've had a few chances so far but as a striker you’re always more disappointed if you aren’t getting opportunities. I’ve had a few chances so far and we’ve had a few as a team so that is still a positive. We just need to get that final and most important little bit done, and I’m sure it’ll come."
“The first half of the season at Harrogate was a bit frustrating and I’ve been dying to get back out on the pitch," he admitted. "To be back out there is really good, it was great to make my home debut on Saturday in front of all of the fans. It was great to be in that atmosphere again and have that buzz of being back out on the pitch.
“The backing that I’ve been given with the length of my deal is really good. It shows a lot of faith in me so I really want to repay that back to the club and the owners. I just want to do really well for this club."
United travel to Barnsley tonight and will be looking to pick up a positive result: “We’re desperate for results and we feel like we’re close in every game. I don’t think there’s been any game that I’ve watched or played in where we’ve been far away from a result.
"We’ve been unlucky at times so we’re really excited for the Barnsley game. It’s another opportunity to get a result. Barnsley is a tough place to go but we’re confident and we want to try and push on from there.”
