The familiar face that is Fin Back became summer signing number seven for Paul Simpson today and the manager spoke to the official website about the return of his latest capture ahead of the Monday morning training session.
“Obviously I’m delighted that he’s here,” he said. “We’ve had to just be patient with it while Forest did the last stage of his rehab.
“We’ve still got to be careful over the next few weeks with him, but I’m really pleased to have him as part of the group again.
“It’s been no secret when you look at our squad list that I’ve been saving that number 2 shirt for somebody, and it was always in my mind that it was going to be Fin.
“I’m delighted, and the really important thing is that I know he really wants to be with us as well.”
His first loan move out from his parent club last term was one that clicked, which certainly helps in terms of getting a player you know will settle.
“That’s something else which is important because he knows what we’re about,” the manager commented.
“We know him, we know that type of character he is, and we know how professional he is in his approach.
“I think he’s more than capable of playing at this level so it’s a good fit for both of us. Hopefully he’ll be luckier this year with injuries than he was last season.”
“In terms of where he can play, he adds to that for us,” he continued. “We now have good options on the right side with him, Jack Ellis and Ben Barclay, if we need to play him there.
“Whether that’s as a full-back or a wing-back, he can certainly do both of those roles.”
