Comedians and football pundits helped officially launch the EFL and Jameson’s four-year partnership at London’s Classic Football Shirts last night.
Sky Sports’ David Prutton led the Jameson Kick Off Quiz Night – a gameshow event featuring former Wycombe Wanderers striker, Adebayo Akinfenwa and comedian and Leeds United fan, Maisie Adam as team captains.
Former Coventry City, Aston Villa and Cambridge United striker, Dion Dublin and TV presenter Bianca Westwood and joined in on the fun as panellists.
Announced earlier this month, Jameson’s four-season deal will see the whiskey giant highlight its commitment to football across the EFL’s three divisions until the end of the 2026/27.
The partnership with EFL is Jameson’s first foray into English professional football and builds on the brand’s work within the grassroots football space following its ongoing nationwide sponsorship of the biggest small-side pitch provider in the UK, Powerleague.
As an Official Partner of the EFL, Jameson will have a presence with all 72 Member Clubs across the Sky Bet Championship, League One and League Two, along with the EFL’s five Wembley finals. Additionally, the brand will have a presence on the EFL website, digital and social media channels.
Team captain, Adebayo Akinfenwa said: “Jameson and the EFL – what a combination. To have a big brand like Jameson come on board really shows the attraction of the EFL.
“Forget your trophies and your Player of the Year awards, being part of the Jameson Kick Off Quiz Night has been a real career highlight.
“Unfortunately I just couldn’t get the win over Mr Dublin.”
Fellow team captain, Maisie Adam added: “I’ve had good old fashioned time tonight, and it’s really cool to see a brand like Jameson supporting football clubs that are integral to the community.
“Jameson are all about ‘togetherness’, if you look at the panel tonight, you can see three ex-footballers, a TV presenter, a comedian and two magazine editors chatting football. To me, that’s bringing people together.
“What a dream to represent Leeds on the panel tonight. I think we’re all looking forward to an exciting new season ahead.”
