We are delighted to welcome Matthew Scandle as our new academy Player Care Lead.
The Player Care role will involve developing and delivering player care support for U9 to U18 players within the academy system.
Matthew joins Carlisle United’s academy with experience of working in sports such as football and cricket as a Performance Psychologist (under supervision); and is currently working towards his Professional Doctorate in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
“I am excited to join Carlisle United as the Academy Player Care Lead,” he told us. “Within this role I will be delivering player care provisions, which includes creating and implementing the clubs three-year strategy to offer tailored support for players when exiting the academy system.
“At the heart of this is ensuring that each player receives individualised support to protect their wellbeing throughout this transition.
“Within this role I will also be supporting players within the academy by developing and delivering a life skills and personal development programme to support their holistic development.
“This is of great importance to support young people to enable them to thrive on and off the football pitch.”
