The Stags are well in the promotion hunt as things stand but they'll also be aware that things are very tight, with just seven points separating their current fifth spot placing from Walsall down in 15th.

They went into their home game against Gillingham on Saturday on the back of a three-game unbeaten run, and two first half goals from Ollie Clarke and Lucas Akins (a penalty) stretched that impressive streak to four.

January's window activity started slowly but defender Alfie Kilgour was an 18-month capture from Bristol Rovers and Callum Johnson came in to bolster the back line further on a similar deal from Ross County.

Former Swindon playmaker Louis Reed signed on an undisclosed fee as things revved up, and the business was completed on deadline day when Burton striker Davis Keillor-Dunn agreed a 30-month contract, again for an undisclosed amount.

He's been mentioned already, but January signing Davis Keillor-Dunn has to be one to keep an eye on.

He was on the bench for his first game as a Stag, but started in the Gillingham victory at the weekend.

A handful, we'll need to keep an eye on him.

There were no goals in a tight game at The One Call Stadium in September 2022.

Watch the highlights from that game here:

Easter Monday 2022 brought a solitary goal from Omari Patrick that was enough to keep the points in Cumbria.

It was a close affair in Mansfield in November 2021, decided by a sixth minute goal from Stephen McLaughlin.

Watch the highlights from that game here:

Carlisle were at Field Mill in March 2021 and it was Ozzy Zanzala who gave the Blues a lead on 66 minutes. Any thoughts of a win were wiped away when Stephen McLaughlin equalised with 10 minutes left to play.

Watch the highlights from that game here:

These two sides came together pre-Christmas in 2020 with the Stags heading north to Brunton Park. A neat pass from Jack Armer was complemented by a stunning finish from Omari Patrick, and that goal proved to be the difference between the sides on the day.

Watch the highlights from that game here:

A visit to Mansfield was on the cards just ahead of the Covid lockdown in February 2020. It turned into an exciting encounter as Nicky Maynard put the home side two goals to the good. Elliot Watt and Josh Kayode struck back late in the day to earn the Blues a hard-earned draw.

These teams met at the start of the 2019/20 season when the Stags came north to Brunton Park. It was a game where United struggled to get going and they were undone early in the game by a deep cross to the back post. Danny Rose arrived late to smash it into the net. The advantage was doubled on the stroke of half time, and that's how it stayed as the visitors went away with a 2-0 victory.

Our referee for this game is Mr Ben Toner. He has taken charge of 28 games so far this season showing 85 yellow cards and one red.

A regular with us over the years, he was here for our 2-1 defeat against Manchester United U21s in the Papa Johns Trophy in August 2022. Jamie Devitt scored our consolation and Devitt was also booked, as was Ryan Edmondson.

We saw him at Scunthorpe on New Year's Day in 2022 when a goal from Rod McDonald was enough to secure the away win. Brennan Dickenson was the only Carlisle name taken.

he was at Brunton Park for the October 2020 visit of Barrow - a historic first league meeting between the clubs after a 56-year gap - and what an eventful day it turned out to be! Jon Mellish got the only goal of the game, but with seven yellows and a red card (Aaron Hayden) there was plenty for him to do. Mellish, Nick Anderton and Callum Guy all had their names taken.

He was with us for the festive visit to Walsall in December 2019. All of the goals came in the second half, with Nathan Thomas and Harry McKirdy [with an injury time winner] doing the real damage as the Blues won 2-1. Jamers Clarke was sent off for the Saddlers and Aaron Hayden went in the book for us.

He was our main match official at the start of the 2019/20 campaign for our Carabao Cup meeting with Barnsley at Oakwell. Goals from Harry McKirdy, Jack Bridge [pen] and Nathan Thomas sealed a comfortable victory and no Carlisle names were taken on the night.

Our first meeting with him during the 2018/19 season was for the 2-1 victory over Port Vale at Brunton Park in August. A Danny Grainger penalty and a Tom Parkes header were enough to see the Blues earn the three points with no cards shown

The Checkatrade Trophy fixture at the Stadium of Light was the second United game he oversaw that term, with the Black Cats running out as 3-1 winners. Ashley Nadesan got the United goal and, once again, the cards stayed in his pocket.

New Year's Day 2019 took us to Morecambe, Jamie Devitt and Jack Sowerby got the goals, and Kelvin Etuhu and Anthony Gerrard had their names recorded in the book.

And last, but not least, was our 2-1 home victory over Swindon in March 2019. Hallam Hope and Callum O'Hare scored our goals with Gary Liddle going in the book for a late challenge.
