The Blues are having a quirky time of it in this competition this season as we yet again find ourselves drawn against a team we'll end up facing twice within a matter of weeks.
United defeated Tranmere Rovers thanks to goals from Jordan Gibson and Jayden Harris here at Brunton Park to secure their place in the Monday evening draw, having put Rovers to the sword in the league a week earlier.
This time round Michael Flynn will bring his team to Brunton Park with three points at stake - yep, that's this Saturday - before the Cumbrians make the retrun journey for round two a fortnight later.
A good run of current form for Walsall was continued with a 2-0 away win that dumped League One outfit Wycombe out of the cup on Saturday, with the goals coming from Jacob Maddox and Isaac Hutchinson.
United boss Paul Simpson scored once in a 10-game lon spell at the Bescot Stadium between September 1998 and January 1999, but he was cup tied, returning to parent club Wolves to play in their 2-1 third-round defeat at home to Arsenal at the beginning of '99.
"I think everybody in the draw will tell you before it's made that they'll take anyone at home," manager Paul Simpson said.
"That hasn't happened, there's nothing we can do about that, so all we can do is focus on the games we have between now and then. There are league points to aim for before we switch our attentions back to the FA Cup.
"As with Tranmere we find that we play them in the league next before meeting them once again fairly quickly. That takes us into the weekend knowing that we play them twice within a matter of weeks, but also knowing that the first game has no real bearing on the second.
"On both occasions it will be down to who does it right on the day. Both clubs will want to be in the draw for the next stage but, like I say, we have work to do before we start to think about that, and about the game we will play next in this competition down at their place."
Full match details to follow, once confirmed.
