The under-18s were at home for the first time this season with a lunchtime kick-off for their meeting with Port Vale.
But it went the way of the visitors as they got themselves into a two-goal lead ahead of half-time.
Kai Nugent pulled one back five minutes into the second period, but a penalty with a quarter of an hour left to go sealed the deal for Vale.
