Stevenage parted company with Paul Tisdale and appointed Steve Evans as his successor midway through March, with the club dipping perilously towards the bottom two spots.
Evans had been linked with the post prior to Tisdale's arrival, but the former Exeter gaffer managed just three wins from 19 league matches, which prompted the latest change.
Former Leeds United and Peterborough United boss Evans left Gillingham in January after guiding the League One side to consecutive top half of the table finishes.
10 points from the last 15 have taken Stevenage to safety (secured last weekend), with three of those outings being clean sheets.
Things looked grim at the beginning of April when Oldham went home with an away victory under their belts, but the upturn in fortunes has been dramatic under the new manager.
There was a speed bump on Tuesday night, with a 2-0 defeat at Mansfield, but now that this season's business of safety has been concluded, there'll be a push within the club to avoid a repeat run next time round.
Luke Norris will now forever be a hero with him having bagged both goals in the 2-0 home win over Tranmere last Saturday.
The strikes sparked the survival celebrations, taking his season tally to 12, with four of those net bulgers coming in the last six games.

Jon Mellish and Jordan Gibson scored the goals at the Lamex in December 2021 that gave the Blues a comfortable away victory.

A red card for Rod McDonald on 18 minutes put United on the back foot as Tom Pett, Luke Norris and Arthur Read made the one-man advantage when these teams met in March 2021. Brennan Dickenson scored his first goal for the club, but it wasn't quite enough to make a difference.

December 2020 brought a convincing home victory for United with goals from Nick Anderton, Josh Kayode, Lewis Alessandra and Joe riley making up the 4-0 win. Luke Prosser was sent off with 15 minutes left to play to compound the misery for the visitors.

The only meeting of these teams in the Covid hit 2019/20 season was in September, where a brace from Harry McKirdy and a goal from Nathan Thomas were enough to cancel out a double strike from Kurtis Guthrie.

We were also down in Stevenage in April 2019, and it was one to forget for United as Iontton and a brace from Guthrie deflated the travelling crowd.

The Boro picked up where they had left off the previous season when they came north in September 2018. Carlisle were made to pay for early missed chances when Ben Kennedy scored a beauty after the break, and there was more disappointment when an Adam Campbell header crashed against the post late in the day.

Our visit to the Lamex in January 2018 was a tight affair but it was United who created the better of the chances, with Danny Grainger and Jamie Devitt both going close from first half free kicks. Sam Cosgrove could have wrapped things up when he was played clean through but, in the end, neither side could find a way to break the deadlock.

It was another tough one for the Blues almost exactly two years ago when early second half goals from Kennedy and Tom Pett put Boro in cruise control as they saw their way through to a comfortable three points.

The referee for this game is Mr Darren Drysdale. Darren has taken charge of 34 games so far this season and has shown 112 yellow cards and three reds.
We met him twice during the 2017/18 season, with him looking after our 1 January 2018 fixture against Mansfield Town. The Stags won 3-1 with Kane Hemmings (2) and Rhys Bennett bagging their goals. Jamie Devitt notched our consolation from the spot and John O’Sullivan and Richie Bennett were the United names that went in the book that afternoon.
He was also the man in the middle for our trip to face Notts County a month later, in February 2018. Jamie Devitt scored a late consolation, but a first half brace from Jon Stead had already done the damage.
We had him once again at Field Mill when a Tyler Walker penalty gave Mansfield another narrow victory. Yet again the blue shirts avoided the little black book.
