Carlisle United are delighted to confirm that defender Aaron Hayden has signed a new 18-month deal (with a one-year option) which keeps him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2021.
A very versatile player, the 22-year-old joined the Blues during pre-season following a successful trial period with the club. He really came to the fore under new boss Chris Beech, and has scored once in his 13 appearances so far with United.
Head coach Chris Beech said: “Aaron has done really well from a defensive perspective since I’ve came into the club.
"He’s been totally committed to the Carlisle United way, and he deserves this reward. While we’ve done that and enhanced his situation, we’re looking for him to progress and keep producing and improving.
“If players perform, they’ll get the backing from myself and the club. I’ll keep driving all of the players forward, and how far Aaron goes depends on his drive and ambition."
Prior to his move up to Cumbria Hayden had previously spent almost 18-months on-loan from Wolverhampton with Southern League Premier Division Central outfit Stourbridge.
Croydon-born Hayden spent time in the youth system at Chelsea before moving north to join the Wolves academy as a 16-year-old in 2015.
He enjoyed loan moves with Newport County, Hemel Hempstead Town, Bromley and Telford whilst with the Molineux outfit, but became a free agent on his return from Stourbridge at the end of the last campaign.
