Club captain Danny Grainger is one of four players nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month Award for December following a run of two clean sheets, three goals and an assist.
Speaking about the nomination, he said: "It's always nice to be nominated but it's about what we've been doing as a team rather than about individuals.
"We've been on a great run, and there are a lot of lads in the team who could have been nominated, because we're playing with a lot of confidence and scoring some great goals.
"We've won six on the bounce now and we just want to continue that, and it would be lovely to win this award to top off a great festive period, but there are some very good players nominated.
"I'd swap the nomination for us continuing our recent run of form and being at the top end of the table come the end of the season, but it's always nice to get a bit of recognition."
The full list of nominees is ...
Danny Grainger (Carlisle United) – full-back
Two clean sheets, three goals and an assist were the sizeable contributions at both ends of the pitch in four games of Carlisle’s local hero. The 32-year-old scored with typical power from free-kicks against Colchester and Oldham.
John Akinde (Lincoln City) - striker
The perfect target man fit for Lincoln’s style, he contributed four goals and an assist in December. Two goals came from his trademark laconic penalty taking style, while his strength allows him to create space and openings for others.
Chris O’Grady (Oldham Athletic) – striker
Five goals in as many games for the much-travelled striker who has brought his experience and nous to Boundary Park. His hat-trick against Bury featured a sweet volley, a controlled finish and a poacher’s strike from close range.
George Williams (Forest Green Rovers) – attacking midfielder
Free from the niggling injuries which slowed his progress, the 23-year-old is making up for lost time with five goals in four games. Each goal in his hat-trick at Newport was scored from outside the area, including a free-kick for the ages.
The winner will be announced on Friday 11 January.
