Carlisle United Football Club can confirm that Rotherham United have recalled striker Jerry Yates from his current loan spell with the Blues as they suffer an injury and suspension crisis.
Yates, 22, has become a favourite with United fans having scored seven goals in 29 appearances since joining the club from the Millers during the summer transfer window.
A switch to his favoured central striking role three games ago has helped to bag him four goals in what has been a fantastic month for the young forward.
Director of football David Holdsworth said: “Rotherham have suffered from injuries, suspensions and loan recalls of their own recently and they notified us yesterday that they needed their player back so that he could available for them to use as they see fit.
"This is the type of thing that can happen, even though it's always disappointing for the club who has been hosting the player when it does.
"We all know that Jerry has been fantastic for us and we hope to have the option to bring him back here once the situation at Rotherham eases off a little bit.
"If that isn't the case we'd like to thank Jerry for the hard work and effort he has put in with us, and we'd like to thank everyone at Rotherham for the way they've worked with us throughout his time at Brunton Park."
"An example of the way we've worked together is the timing of the announcement," he continued. "They made the request on behalf of their manager to hold back on the news until the teams were announced today and, having taken that request on board, and having listened to their reasons for it, we were happy to agree.
"As I say, we still hope that we'll see Jerry again, and we'll always work closely with his parent club with that in mind."
Doncaster-born Yates was at the academy with his home town club until he was snapped up by the Millers as a teenager.
He made his first senior appearance for his new club as an 18-year old when he came off the bench at Birmingham in April 2015.
More experience followed with two loan spells with Harrogate Town, where he bagged five goals in 10 appearances, with his initial spell being cut short as he was recalled as cover for an injury crisis at the New York Stadium.
He established himself in Rotherham’s Championship squad through the 2016/17 season, with three goals in 23 appearances.
His first goals for the club came in a dramatic EFL Cup meeting with Morecambe, where the Millers lost 5-4 despite a last-minute extra time goal from Yates.
A regular feature in League One last season, he scored twice in his 20 appearances for his parent club.
