Striker Hallam Hope is one of four players nominated for the Sky Bet League Two January Player of the Month Award following a run of three goals and an assist.
Speaking about the nomination, he said: “It’s nice to get nominated but things like this usually come because the team is playing well.
“All I ever do is go out there to play my part and, in my position, that means trying to create and score goals.
“Hopefully we’ll keep seeing players from United being nominated because that will mean we’re where we all want to be.”
The full list of nominees is ...
Hallam Hope (Carlisle United) - striker
Carlisle’s surge up the League Two table can be attributed in large part to Hope’s stellar form. Mobile and quick, he possesses the attributes defenders hate, cutting in from the left. Scored three goals and claimed an assist.
Christian Doidge (Forest Green Rovers) - striker
It is hard to overstate the mental turmoil and self-doubt Doidge must have felt when he was sent back from Bolton this month. Instead of moping, he responded with dignity, commitment and three goals in four starts.
Tom James (Yeovil Town) – central defender
The classy youngster could have moved on from Huish Park by now, but while he stays, Yeovil have a player who can impact both end of the pitch. He helped to preserve two clean sheets and scored two of Yeovil’s four January goals.
Jay O’Shea (Bury) – midfielder
Having the goalscoring season of his life. Five more came in January and all but one either equalised or gave Bury the lead. All kinds, too, from a lovely driving run and shot at Forest Green to a low fizzer against Lincoln.
The winner will be announced on Friday 8 February.
