Following on from their successful 'Jimmy Glass and Friends' evening at Brunton Park last month, Carlisle United Supporters’ Groups (CUSG) are delighted to announce the sale of a limited number of Jimmy Glass pin badges to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the goalkeeper's historic goal.
The design of the badge is the same as that used on the popular Jimmy Glass t-shirts sold by the Carlisle United Supporters’ Club London Branch, and CUSG are thankful to the London Branch for their work in developing this design.
The badges cost £2 and will be on sale in the Blues Store and ticket office from Friday 19 April. The badges can also be sourced from CUSG representatives.
All proceeds from the sale of the badges will be used by CUSG to help the club improve facilities and the match day experience for supporters.
Chair of CUSG Simon Clarkson commented: “That goal is so special. The demand for the recent event and the sale of over 500 t-shirts show that Carlisle fans love to remember it. Monies raised, as with all of our fundraising activities, will be used to directly benefit fans.”
Who can forget the iconic commentary from Derek Lacey of Radio Cumbria ...
So ... deep, deep, deep, I make it sixty seconds. Jimmy Glass knocks it long. It comes now to Bagshaw. Bagshaw back to Anthony. Up to Stevens ... and the ball goes out now for a corner to Carlisle United – will they have time to take it?
Referee looks at his watch ... and here comes Jimmy Glass! Carlisle United goalkeeper Jimmy Glass is coming up for the kick – everyone is going up ... there isn't one player in the Carlisle half! Well, well ... and the corner kick comes in ... and ... the goalkeeper's punch ... oh ... Jimmy Glass! Jimmy Glass! Jimmy Glass, the goalkeeper, has scored a goal for Carlisle United!
There's a pitch invasion! There is a pitch invasion! The referee has been swamped – they're bouncing on the crossbar!
