Striker Ashley Nadesan swept a beauty of a volley into the back of the net at Vale Park on Saturday and the goal proved to be the catalyst to an excellent turnaround and thoroughly deserved three points from what was a very good team performance.

“We didn’t start the game well with us going a goal behind, particularly after we’d had all of the possession,” he said. “We probably had the better chances but we didn’t take them. In the end we managed to finish the game well and score the goals in front of a decent away crowd.

“Although we went a goal behind we didn’t let it get us down, we just used it to motive us. The fans really got behind us and when we got the first goal we almost knew the next one would come."

On his goal, which was his fourth during his loan spell with United, he said: “It was a great cut-back from Lids [Gary Liddle] even though it took a deflection. It was just instinct to volley it, and thankfully it flew into the top corner.

“As soon as I hit it I knew I’d struck it sweetly. It was then just down to whether the keeper could get to it. It’s a great feeling to score any goal, but it’s nice when it’s a decent finish.

"For Hallam [Hope’s] goal the passion from us and from the fans behind that goal was unbelievable.

“I started the game up front on my own and the gaffer spoke to me about it before the game. We had Jamal [Campbell-Ryce] just behind and it was a case of seeing how it worked. I wasn’t really getting the service, but when the gaffer changed the formation at half time and brought Benno [Richie Bennett] on it changed the game."

“I’m loving every minute I get to play here," he admitted. "Whether it’s starting or coming off the bench, I’m just really enjoying it. I’m just trying to get my name out there and hopefully Fleetwood will want to keep me and use me next season.

"I’m just trying to do as well as I can and put myself out there. Mathematically we aren’t playing for anything, but we’re playing for ourselves, the fans and some lads are playing for contracts. There are still plenty of things to keep us going right until the end of the season."

“Everyone loves the gaffer and we’re all right behind him," he concluded. "It’s sad to see him going but he’s been really honest with us in the dressing room.

“We’re looking forward to the home game next week and we’ll be looking to put in another good performance and get another three points to finish the season off in the right way."
