Monday morning was an early start for John Sheridan and his squad as they headed out to Borrowdale for a day of team bonding activities at Glaramara, the Outdoor Adventures Centre.

Glaramara offers everything from hill walking to abseiling, caving, archery, rock climbing and orienteering, so the lads knew they were going to be put through their paces from the moment they arrived.

“The staff out there were fantastic,” manager John Sheridan said. “They had some great activities and problem-solving tasks lined up and it showed us that some lads are brighter than others … let’s put it that way and leave it there!

“These things are all about getting to know each other in an environment away from the club house and the training pitch, and it was a good test as well as very enjoyable.”

Keeper Joe Fryer commented: “It was a great day. We had a good laugh and there was plenty of competition around the things we had to do.

“I was one of the ones who ended up getting water poured over their head, so I wasn’t a big fan of that, because there was plenty of cheating going on to get us to that point!

“It was good for us all to be able to do it and I think all of the lads will tell you it was well worth going.”

The morning started with a series of military style command tasks, where groups had to work together to solve a number of difficult problems.

It was then on to Ghyll Scrambling in the afternoon as the squad got soaked as they made their way round a very scenic and typically picturesque Borrowdale trail.
