The Blues were up against third-placed Tranmere Rovers at Frenchfield Park on Thursday afternoon and they now head into the final 10 days of their season with another very good victory under their belts.

A tight game saw the teams go into the half time break still deadlocked, with United feeling aggrieved that a Luke Taylor goal had been ruled out for offside.

The Blues upped the pace in the second half and Max Cowburn opened the scoring when he finished off some good work from Jaic Miller.

Josh Dixon was on hand to tuck a near post cross from McCarron into the bottom corner to double the advantage, and Liam McCarron got one of his own when he raced forward to capitalise on some strong hold-up play from Belchior Papa.

Youth coach Gavin Skelton said: "This was a good all-round team performance.

"The players were confident and professional and they've now extended their run to six games unbeaten and five clean sheets.

"It's good to watch and hopefully they'll keep this level of performance up through the final two games."
