The logo of mental health charity Mind will appear on all EFL shirts next season as part of the new style names and numbers being launched for the 2018/19 campaign.
The iconic new design will for the first time in English football, incorporate a charity’s logo into the player name on the back of every EFL shirt across all 72 Clubs in the Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One and Sky Bet League Two.
The squiggle part of Mind’s logo will be joined into the first letter of the player name – with the player’s name replacing the word Mind - in a unique design to celebrate the new partnership which sees Mind become the EFL’s new Official Charity Partner from the start of the next season.
In this ground-breaking new collaboration, the EFL and Mind will be joining forces from the beginning of 2018/19 to use the power of football to help improve the nation’s mental health and wellbeing.
With one in four individuals affected by mental health problems, the EFL will work with its network of 72 clubs and community trusts to promote Mind’s message and services to millions nationwide with four ambitions to promote better mental health. The partnership will look to focus on the following areas:
a) raise awareness about mental health with fans, clubs and staff
b) raise funds to deliver life changing support
c) provide support for EFL players, managers and staff
d) improve the approach to mental health in the EFL, in football and in wider society
Mind were chosen to become the EFL’s Official Charity Partner from the start of the 2018/19 season on an initial two-year basis.
A full launch of the new names and numbers will take place before the start of the new EFL season.
