West Brom graduate signs for United
Carlisle United have today signed former West Brom midfielder Samir Nabi on a short term deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until the end of the current season.Nabi, 20, ended an eleven year association with his home town club last summer and was snapped up by the Delhi Dynamos where he gained experience in the Indian Super League.
An attack minded midfielder, he comes from a strong footballing crop with younger brother Rahis still at the Hawthorns and older brother Adil now plying his trade with Peterborough United.
Manager Keith Curle said: “Samir has been with us for a couple of weeks and he’s another who has shown a real desire to make a mark.
“He’s had an excellent grounding and he’s another who has something slightly different to what we already have in the group. He’s used to playing in a midfield three where he he has licence to get forward and he likes to find the back of the net.
“Joining us at this stage of the season gives him a chance to remind everyone what he’s all about. He has physical presence, he won’t shy away from a challenge, he’s good on the ball and he’ll add to the competition for places we need to see.”
Nabi will wear shirt number 39.
This signing remains subject to the clearance of all relevant paperwork.
