Striker signs on loan from Stoke City
Carlisle United have today signed Stoke City striker George Waring on a half-season loan deal which keeps him at Brunton Park until the end of the current campaign [play-off fixtures included, if required].Waring, 22, joined the Everton youth ranks as a teenager and left to join Stoke City at the age of 19. He made his professional debut against Yeovil during a loan spell with Barnsley in January 2015.
He had a successful time with the Tykes, scoring six goals in 19 appearances. He has also enjoyed loan spells with Oxford United, during their promotion winning campaign, and most recently with Shrewsbury Town this season.
Manager Keith Curle said: "George is the type of player who we feel will thrive in the environment we've created. He's got good technical ability, as you'd expect from a player coming from a club at that level, and he definitely won't struggle with the physical aspects of the game.
"He's had recent experience of being with a promotion winning team and he's ready to make a mark. His size will add something different and it will give us more options with the way we can approach games, and likewise change our approach during games, so we're pleased that he's chosen to join us."
