Newcastle International Airport forges new partnership with the club
Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce that Newcastle International Airport have stepped on board with a three-and-a-half year sponsorship deal which will see their distinctive logo and corporate branding take pride of place at the Warwick Road End here at Brunton Park.
The sponsorship deal, set to run until the summer of 2019, brings an exciting new partner into the fold for Cumbria’s only professional football club and marks our return to ‘home’ football action, post-Storm Desmond, in some style with the Warwick Road End rebrand set to be complete ahead of the York City fixture on Saturday [26 January, kick off 3pm].
United’s Sales and Marketing Director Phil King said: “We started to discuss the opportunity with Newcastle International Airport in August last year, to speak about the possibility of developing a working partnership, and I have to say they have been absolutely fantastic with us.
“There’s always a worry with an event as big as the storm and the floods we saw in December that it could have an impact on more than just the fixtures and fittings, but it was made clear from the moment the extent of the damage was known that this deal was not going to be affected in any way. It now feels very fitting that we are able to announce the new partnership as we make a return to Brunton Park for our first home fixture following that event.
“Newcastle International Airport does a lot of community work over in the north-east already and it’s good to be able to help them to bring their message into Cumbria and the Borders. They have strong ties with the Newcastle United and Sunderland Foundations, where they are embedded as official charity partners, and I think it is very good for us to be able to forge links with such a big and recognisable national and international organisation. We’re looking forward to working with them and to seeing where this partnership can take us.”
John Irving, Business Development Director at Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are delighted to link up with Carlisle United and look forward to developing our partnership with both the club and its supporters.
“The people of Cumbria are important customers of Newcastle Airport. Everyone connected with the Airport was very concerned to see the awful flooding in parts of Cumbria and surrounding areas including at the club itself.
“Hopefully this partnership will help both the club and supporters to start to recover from these events.”
