Connor Hammell joins Penrith until end of season
United midfielder Connor Hammell has joined Penrith FC on a loan deal which keeps him at the Frenchfield Stadium until the end of the current season.
Hammell, 19, came through the youth ranks at Brunton Park to earn a one-year deal for the duration of this season.
The lively midfielder made his first team debut in the home victory over Northampton Town in December 2015 and made a total of three appearances during the 2014/15 campaign.
He has enjoyed a loan spell with AFC Whitehaven already this season and will join the Penrith Blues with immediate effect.
Manager Keith Curle said: “Connor is one of those players who needs to be playing competitive football.
“His work ethic is absolutely magnificent and we know Penrith will look after him. I’ve said before, he’s adapted well to the first team squad environment but it’s important for his own development that he gets pitch time.
“With the attitude and determination he shows us on a daily basis it’s right for him that he gets his reward on a weekend with 90 minutes of football. The good thing is that it’s a local club and we’ll be able to keep an eye on him.”
