Charlie Wyke on his goal against Crawley
We grabbed a moment with striker Charlie Wyke shortly after full time in the hard-earned victory over Crawley on Saturday.“It was a bit of a slog for us in the end,” he agreed. “We had a lot of chances again and thankfully I ended up with a goal.
“We came into the game wanting to finish the season with three wins and that’s the way we’ll look at it going into the next two games."
After scoring his fourteenth goal of the season, he said: “I just want to score as many goals as I can between now and the end of the season. I could have had a few more on Saturday but I was happy to get the winner.
“You’re always going to miss a few along the way but you just have to keep going and stay positive."
On the assist from Alex McQueen, he told us: “It was a good cross from Alex. I think it came over his shoulder and he played it back in with his foot. It was a goal that was coming with the amount of chances we had."
“It hasn’t been nice missing these chances and that lads have got a bit frustrated with it," he admitted. "I know you make your own luck but it hasn’t been going our way at all.
“We want to finish on a high so we can take that into next season."
Ahead of the final home game of the season against Oxford on Saturday, he said: “We gave Oxford a good game down at their place so hopefully we’ll get the win against them at Brunton Park.
“It’s a happy dressing room because we have been working hard the last few weeks. We got the victory to go with it and we’re pleased about that."
