Stadium floodlights reach mandatory Football League levels
Recent floodlight refurbishments and improvements at Brunton Park have given the club a healthy lux reading as summer begins to turn to autumn and the dark nights start to close in.
The club now complies with Football League mandatory lighting requirements across all areas of the pitch with an average lux reading recorded at 542, comfortably above the League One required standard of 500.
Tony Bingley, who led the floodlight refurbishment programme on behalf of the club, said: “A lot of hard work has been done on the lighting system around the ground to make sure we comply with the required standards.
“Lamps have been changed and reset, old lamps have been replaced and some areas have had new floodlights fitted. As we got to the end of the project at the end of August we noticed that one area, adjacent to the technical areas and dug outs, was still slightly dull in appearance.
“We fitted new lamps to the gantry framework in the West Stand and that has solved that issue for us. Such is the level of the work done that we have one large area of the pitch which already reaches Championship lighting standards.”
The club would like to thank CUSG, who raised more than £7,000 for the project, and the following individuals and businesses who gave their time and resources to the floodlight refurbishment works:
