U12 goalkeeper spends two days with England
Carlisle United academy U12 goalkeeper James Trafford went along to an England goalkeeping training camp last week.Academy coach Ben Benson said: "We were delighted that James was invited on a two day training camp with the England development squads.
"The camps are designed to ID potential goalkeepers for the England youth teams for the future and cater for U13s through to U16s.
"I had a conversation with the goalkeeping coaches and England scouts associated with the camp and between us we identified James as someone who would benefit from the camp. He went for two days and the feedback I have had has been excellent from both James and the camp staff.
"James is obviously still very young but we feel these camps offer an invaluable experience which will undoubtedly help him in the long term.
"The last academy goalkeeper we had that was part of these training groups was Dean Henderson who then eventually went on to gain national caps at both U16 and U17.
"Our academy goalkeeping department are delighted another of our goalkeepers has gained recognition for work they are producing and we hope this will act as a catalyst for our other goalkeepers to push on into next season."
