Result from today's game
Danny Hodgson popped a neat finish into the back of the net in the first half to give the Cumbrians the upper hand and Jake Chisholm wrapped the points up after the break when he reacted quickly to stab home a parried save to leave the keeper with no chance.
"It was a good performance and good for the lads to get a decent win under their belts," academy manager Alan Moore said. "We played some good football and it's one we can take confidence from.
"We scored two and we could easily have scored more. It was particularly good to see a lot of the stuff we've been doing on the training pitch come into play during the game. The second goal was a set piece routine we'd work on during the Monday session and that tells me that things are starting to sink in.
"The only frustrating thing is that, with the way the fixtures have fallen for us, we now don't have a game on Saturday. Ideally we'd have been able to carry this momentum on with another game off the back of it, but we'll make sure we keep things high tempo in training."
Full reaction to follow.
