CUMB FA: Pan-disability programme

Football festival programme a success

The Cumbria Schools Pan-Disability Football Festival Programme kicked off last month, with an exciting 10 team round robin event.

William Howard School in Brampton hosted our first Cumbria Schools Pan-Disability Football Festival of the year. The event welcomed along 10 mixed disability teams from 5 local schools; including Stainburn School, William Howard School, Appleby Grammar School, Mayfield School and George Hastwell School.

Football Development Officer, Jess Lawson said: "It was a fantastic day at William Howard, with roughly 50 disabled youngsters aged 11-18 coming together to play friendly football.

"The event would not have been made possible without the great support from William Howard School and their student volunteers who helped with the event."

Teams now look forward to our next event, which is due to take place at Netherhall School on Wednesday 4 December 2013.

In the meantime a lot of hard work is going into developing further disability football opportunities for youngsters to attend. Check out our website for more information, including new Under 16 sessions set up in Penrith, www.CumberlandFA.com
