CONTRACTS: Defender agrees deal

Young right back to sign first contract

Defender Brandon Gwinnutt has today confirmed that he has agreed his first professional deal which keeps him at the club until the summer of 2014.

Gwinnutt, 18 in June, was offered a one-year contract when his two-year YTS spell came to a successful conclusion earlier this month and will now join the first team ranks on his return to pre-season training at the end of June.

“The reaction I got from Brandon when I told him he was being offered a contract was great to see,” manager Greg Abbott told us.

“He is one who worked extremely hard throughout the second half of last season and he showed us that there is plenty there for us to work with. His attitude and determination have been different class and he has shown a real desire to get it right.

“His football has improved dramatically because of that and, if he carries on this way, then he will be a very good player. We want him to be successful and he now has a chance to make things go that way.”

We’ll have reaction from Brandon Gwinnutt to the signing of his contract over the weekend.
