INTERVIEW: It has to be right

Manager on the Miller situation

United manager Greg Abbott tonight revealed that he expects striker Lee Miller to join the squad for pre-season training tomorrow as contract talks continue with the player and his representatives.

Miller, 30, was offered a one-year contract with United at the end of last season but remains locked in talks with the club having reopened negotiations on his return from a family holiday this month.

"We've wanted to sit down face-to-face but, for one reason or another, that has been difficult for us to do," Abbott said.

"We'll take that opportunity tomorrow and we're very pleased that Lee will be back with us to train as we try to sort things out.

"He's a good player and we all know what he brings to the table, but it's a situation which has to be right for everybody.

"This gives us an opportunity to get him training again as we work towards finalising the contract side of it all."
