First friendly for the U18 side
The U18 side played their first friendly of pre-season tonight when they travelled across to the north east to face Ryton & Crawcrook Albion FC at Kingsley Park.United first half: Brass, McEvoy, Scott, Chisholm, Marshall, Moyes, Wallace, White, Dempsey, Brough, Blackburn.
United second half: Eccles, Thomson, Scott, Dickson, McEvoy, Moyes, Wallace, White, Hammell, Brough, Jackson.
+++++++
Two goals just before the break put Ryton in the driving seat and they added a crushing third goal midway through the second half to leave United with a mountain to climb.
The Cumbrians gave themselves hope with a strike from trialist Jake Jackson with 15 minutes left to play but the three goal cushion was restored moments later as Ryton broke quickly from deep.
The visitors grabbed their second of the night to make it 4-2 with eight minutes left to play, courtesy of a decent Frankie Wallace goal, but the young Carlisle side couldn't capitalise on what was a much better second half performance and were made pay for their earlier lapses of concentration.
We'll have full reaction from Dave Wilkes and Chris Blake on Monday morning.
