Home tie for the first round
The United Youth team have been drawn to face York City at home in the first round of this season's Youth Alliance Cup.Last season's beaten finalists face the young Minstermen on Saturday 5 October at Creighton Rugby Club as they begin the defence of their northern area title.
United beat Walsall last April to earn their place in the national final where they were subsequently beaten by a strong Bristol Rovers side in front of a bumper crowd at Brunton Park.
"Our season kicks off on 10 August and we have a lot of football to play before we really start to focus on the cup competitions," youth boss Davie Irons said as he took up his new post today.
"I've watched the lads a lot over the last few weeks and I'm really looking forward to working with them. We should be really into the swing of things by the time we face York and it's a competition we will look forward to."
