Game at Crawley postponed
Tomorrow's npower League One fixture against Crawley Town has been postponed due to the recent bad weather.Cold conditions and severe weather warnings have combined at exactly the wrong time and, with safety in mind, Crawley officials have today taken the decision to call the fixture off.
United manager Greg Abbott said: "We have had to train and plan for the game to be on whilst also making sure we had a contingency in place should the weather play its part.
"We have to give credit to Crawley for the way they have handled this and for the way they have taken the travel and safety aspects of this weekend into consideration.
"Don't get me wrong, we wanted to play - we absolutely wanted to play and I'm sure that's the same with Richie [Barker] and his lads - but it looks like they have looked at all of the factors and used a bit of common sense along the way. There would be nothing worse than for us to set off and either be severely affected on the journey or, even worse, get there only for the game to then be called off.
"We will now gather together in Carlisle and train hard to make sure the lads are ready to go again as we switch our focus to the Scunthorpe game next weekend."
