Left back signs for the Blues
Wigan Athletic defender Jordan Mustoe has joined the Cumbrians on an emergency loan deal today which keeps him at Brunton Park until the end of the current season.Birkenhead-born Mustoe, 22, started his career at Liverpool but moved to Wigan Athletic in 2009, where he signed his first professional contract.
He made four appearances in the FA Cup for the Latics before joining Barnet on loan at the end of January last year. He made 19 appearances for the Bees, gaining valuable experience, and was again on the move in October 2012 where he joined Morecambe for a three-month spell.
It was whilst at the Globe Arena that he registered his first professional goal – a debut strike in a 4-2 defeat against Preston.
Manager Greg Abbott said: "Jordan is one we've been talking about for a while now and it's good for us that we've got him in.
"He's had a couple of good, long loan spells before this one, where he has done very well, and he's very highly thought of at Wigan.
"He adds more options to the squad and it should help us with the work we have been doing defensively over the last couple of months.
"It's a great opportunity for him to come in and get some competitive football at an age when that's exactly what he wants and needs. As always in these cases, if it goes well, as we think it will, then it's a good move for all concerned."
More reaction to follow.
