Left back joins the Cumbrians
Carlisle United have today signed Mansfield left back Paul Black on a one-month loan spell which keeps him at Brunton Park until midnight on Saturday 14 September 2013.Black, 23, started his career as a youngster at Oldham and made over 60 appearances for the Latics as he made his mark in the game. He enjoyed a loan spell with Barrow at the start of the 2008/09 campaign and ended his stay at Boundary Park when he joined Tranmere Rovers in the summer of 2012. He left Prenton Park in May this year when he signed for Mansfield Town.
"Reece [James] isn't going to be available for tomorrow and it's an area we needed to cover," manager Greg Abbott said. "Paul is a solid defender who knows the game and he's another who is at a stage where he just wants to be playing games.
"We'll get him in and take it from there."
Black is available for the weekend trip to Bradford City, if selected, and has been given clearance for the Capital One Cup second round fixture against Leicester City at the end of this month.
He will wear squad number 6.
