Decisions made on contract offers
Carlisle United Football Club can today confirm the retained and released list as we head into the busy summer months ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.
Top-scorer Lee Miller, 29, has been offered a one-year contract which would take him through to the summer of 2014. The big forward has scored 24 goals in his 60 appearances since joining the club back in August 2011 and bagged nine from 23 appearances in this campaign to once again finish top of the club goal scoring pile.
Wide man Matt Robson, 28, has been offered a two-year deal which would keep him at Brunton Park until the summer of 2015. The popular left-sided player initially joined the club back in 2009 and has made over 175 appearances both at left back and in a wide left role. He scooped no less than five awards at the end-of-season awards dinner on Sunday evening which included all of those voted for by the supporters’ clubs.
Club captain Paul Thirlwell, 34, has been offered a one-year contract which would keep him with the club until the summer of 2014. The long-serving midfielder joined United on-loan from Derby in September 2006 and he made the move a permanent one in the following transfer window. He has made over 200 appearances in a blue shirt and lifted the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at Wembley following a 1-0 victory against Brentford in 2011.
Midfielder Josh Todd, 19 in June, has been offered a one-year deal which would keep him at the club until the summer of 2014. Todd came through the youth ranks to earn his first professional deal last year and made his debut in the 3-0 home victory over Hartlepool on Boxing Day.
Defender Danny Livesey, 28, has a one-year contract extension offer on the table following the successful trigger of an appearance related clause in his current deal. The big centre half has made over 300 appearances for United and has seen a host of highs and lows since his arrival at the club back in December 2004.
Meanwhile Adam Collin, Rory Loy, Mathieu Manset, Jon-Paul McGovern, Peter Murphy, Frank Simek and Andy Welsh have been released as their respective contracts draw to a close.
We’ll have more from the manager on these decisions later today.
