Midfielder on the 1-1 Deepdale draw
Midfielder Kallum Higginbotham made a return to the starting line-up following a three game absence at Deepdale on Tuesday night and, by admission, put in one of his best performances in a Blues' shirt so far."I really enjoyed being back out there and involved again," he said. "I haven't been picked for the previous run of games and that is more than understandable with the performances I have put in since I got here.
"From a personal point of view I would like to say sorry to the fans for that. The good thing for me was that I got back to playing somewhere near the way I can with the way I did things tonight."
"I came to Carlisle to get games," he added. "The manager stuck with me at the start but I didn't perform. He was well within his rights to drop me. I'm just happy that I've been given another chance and hopefully I've persuaded a few fans that I can do a job for the team.
"The gaffer has spoken to me about it and he has been excellent, to be fair. He said he wanted me to improve on what I was doing and I've shown him in training that I'm there again. He saw that and he gave me my chance, and I think I've repaid him with the way I played.
"All I did in this one was base everything I did on hard work. That brings confidence and the football will come from that. I've definitely got more to show and hopefully this is the start of it."
And on the devastation of the late goal, he said: "I think we deserved three points so it is hard to take. It's even worse when it's in the 93rd minute, or whatever it was, but we can take the positives and do the same things at Brentford on Saturday.
"Obviously everyone is gutted in the dressing room but I think the fans have appreciated the way we played. It was a fantastic show of support and it's a real shame we didn't get the three points for them."
