Joe Garner on staying with United
Watford loanee Joe Garner has spoken of his desire to help to move Carlisle United up the table having extended his loan deal with the club today.
With 7 strikes in 17 starts since joining the Blues in the middle of September, Joe tops the clubs scoring charts and will hope that his goals can be pivotal in turning the side’s fortunes around.
“I’m really pleased that I’m staying,” he told us. “I came here to get games and it’s been good for me to play and score some goals as well. Hopefully that will continue.”
“I’ve settled well and I just want to push on now,” he continued. “One of the main reasons I wanted to stay is because I think we’re at the wrong end of the table. If we can put a few wins together we’ll move up and get back to where we all want to be.”
“It’s been a frustrating period for us,” he admitted. “I think we’ve obviously been conceding too many goals but we take responsibility for that as a team. We’ve got a lot of big players out through injury and we’ve been unlucky with that type of thing. Once everyone is back we will have a really strong squad and that’s something for us to look forward to.
“There have been times when we have needed a little bit of luck, but you can make your own in this game. What we want to do is work hard, go down to Yeovil and do what we can to bring back the three points.”
“I don’t really set myself any targets,” he said. “I just want to play as many games as I can and help to repay the faith Greg [Abbott] has shown in me by hopefully getting a few goals and by doing my bit to help us to put this run of results behind us.”
