Greg Abbott on the Yeovil trip
United manager Greg Abbott spoke to us ahead of the long trip to Yeovil.
He said: “It’s always a test when we go down there.
“It will be another big performance that’s required if we want to come away with something. We picked up a good result there last year and hopefully it will be the same this time round.
“They have enjoyed some good results recently and I don’t think we’ve ever had it all our own way on their pitch. All we can do is prepare properly and go there to make sure our players perform. We got that from our lads at times on Tuesday night and we need more of the same.
“It’s all about getting the right result at the moment. Our defending has been much better in general play but not so good from set pieces. We have to find a way of putting that right and we’ve been working on that.
“The group is right behind what we’re doing and that’s important. We know we’re playing a bit of a waiting game before we get back to full strength, but if the players show as much determination as they did against Doncaster then we will cause Yeovil some problems.
“Our aim is to have a successful December and to get some wins under our belt. We want to get some momentum going so that we can get back up to where we want to be. We can start that by going on this long trip this weekend and by coming back with a result. That's where my focus is, on winning matches, because that always makes things look much better.
“I can’t wait for the game and it’s the same with the players. There is a lot of positivity in the dressing room and hopefully we’ll get that little bit of luck, which has been missing for a while, to go with it.
“The lads are as determined as I am to win a game. It’s a big match for them and they have trained really hard since Tuesday. We now just want to get out there and get on with the 90 minutes of football.
“We all know we have to work extremely hard at the moment. Things haven’t gone our way but only we can change that. The fans responded to the way we did things and I thought they were magnificent on Tuesday. They stuck with us because us they knew we needed a bit of help. Hopefully they will stay with us because I can guarantee that we will all come out of this better and stronger as we go forward.”
