Mike Edwards on putting things right
Defender Mike Edwards teamed up with the Cumbrians on a two-year deal from Notts County in the summer and, despite the tough first half of the season for the club, confirmed this week that he feels he made the right decision in making the move up north.
“I wanted to come and try and help to push the team higher than where they finished last season, and the aim is still for us to achieve that,” he said.
“I’m enjoying it a lot here and the lads are all great. They’ve really taken to me and that makes things much easier. It’s at this point when you look at results, and obviously it’s not the ideal start, but I’m working as hard as anybody to make sure we try and put it right.”
Speaking about the current run of home form which has disappointed everybody, he added: “We treat every game, home or away, exactly the same. People will look at results and see that the away form is better, but there is no real reason for that.
“We know we have to go out there to get the three points every time we play. That hasn’t happened for us at home but we’re determined to make that change. We’ve had a disappointment last weekend and it’s a relief just to get stuck into the next game.
“We’ve worked hard and Saturday is a chance for us to get out there and get a result to help to kick us on again.”
