Wearne joined United from MK Dons in January 2025.

He began his career with Middlesbrough, spending three years in their academy, prior to making the switch to Sunderland.

He played three times for the Black Cats in the Football League Trophy, scoring two goals.

Stephen spent time on loan at both Grimsby Town and Torquay United, as he looked to gain experience.

He then joined Gateshead in the summer of 2023. Where he quickly became a popular figure for the Heed, playing 36 times and scoring 12 goals.

Wearne then Joined MK Dons in January 2024. He went on to play 33 times for the club, scoring five goals.
